ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police have uncovered startling revelations during the interrogation of the prime suspect, Umar Hayat, in the murder of TikToker Sana Yousuf.
According to sources, the accused travelled from Faisalabad to Islamabad in a rented Toyota Fortuner. He reportedly brought the same vehicle on rent twice – on May 29 and again on June 2 – but failed to pay the rental charges.
The owner of the rent-a-car service arrived at the police station after the suspect’s arrest in an attempt to recover the dues.
Police sources claim only a few hundred rupees were found in the suspect’s possession at the time of arrest. He has been posing as the son of a landlord, but it has been revealed that his father is a retired grade 16 government employee.
Investigators have learnt that on Sana Yousuf’s birthday, the accused arrived at her residence in Sector G-13 with gifts and a cake. However, she refused to meet him. On June 2, Umar Hayat again reached her residence around 5 AM and waited for several hours, but was again turned away.
According to police, the suspect confessed that he was deeply upset by her repeated refusals and killed her in a fit of rage.
Following the murder, he fled the scene by booking a bike ride, later took a taxi to a bus terminal, and boarded a bus back to Faisalabad.
