LAHORE: Javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem arrived on Sunday evening in Lahore airport, attributing yet another Asian Athletics Championships victory to the nation.
The national hero Arshad arrived at around 11PM with a gold medal victory in the Asian Athletics Championships played in Gumi, South Korea.
A day earlier, star performer Arshad returned to international competition and won the gold medal after throwing javelin up to 86.40 metres in the throat-cutting final round here.
His rivals _ Indian Sachin Yadav and Japanese Yuta Sakiyama _ took silver with an 85.16m and home bronze with an 83.75m throw, respectively. Both the latter athletes threw a personal best.

The gold medalist Arshad once arrived at the Lahore airport received a warm welcome both from his family members and friends.
Arshad, who is also the best performer in Paris Olympics, posted a video statement to his social media platform Instagram, saying ‘Thank God for granting the gold medal in the Asian Athletics Championships. It (the gold medal victory) is the result of your (to the nation) best wishes and the best ever training given by my coach Salman Iqbal Butt.’
