Eid-ul-Adha: Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to meet today

ISLAMABAD: The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene today on Tuesday (May 28) to sight the Zul-Hijjah moon and announce the date for Eid-ul-Adha.

The session will be presided over by Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.

If the moon is sighted on May 28, then Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on Friday, June 6. However, if the crescent is seen on Wednesday (May 29), then Eid will fall on Saturday, June 7.

According to the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), astronomical calculations suggest that Eid is likely to be observed across Pakistan on June 7, 2025.

In a statement, SUPARCO said that the new moon of Zilhaj is expected to be born on May 27 at 8:02 PM PST, based on astronomical models.

Meanwhile, the Hajj pilgrimage, which begins on the 8th of Zilhaj and continues till the 13th, is anticipated to take place from June 4 to June 9 this year.
