RAWALPINDI: Security forces eliminated nine India-backed terrorists in the latest operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations said on Monday.

These Fitna al-Khawarij were targeted in the southern districts – Lakki Marwat, Bannu and North Waziristan – of the province.

However, the security forces also lost two of their members, the ISPR said, adding that Sepoy Farhad Ali and Lance Naik Sabir Afridi were the martyred soldiers during the exchange of fire.

According to the military’s media wing, the security forces killed five terrorists in Lakki Marwat, where they carried out an intelligence-based operation.

On the other hand, two each were eliminated in Bannu and North Waziristan in separate operations.

The ISPR said the troops were carrying out clearance operations in these areas against the possible associates or facilitators of the Indian-proxy Fitna al-Khawarij.

As far as the Indian backing of terrorism is concerned, the ISPR vowed that the security forces were determined to root out the proxies promoted by New Delhi.

Commenting on the martyrdom of two soldiers, the ISPR said the sacrifices made their resolve stronger.

In his reaction, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the Indian conspiracy to endanger the lives and properties of innocent citizens in Balochistan had been exposed.

WHY KHYBER PAKHTUNKHWA?

The province has witnessed an alarming rise in terrorist activities after the Imran Khan-led government decided to relocate the Fitna al-Khawarij (TTP) members and families.

Hence, both the current political and military leadership have repeatedly pointed out this fact.

Meanwhile, southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the worst-affected region in the province.

At the same time, Shehbaz also promised to foil India’s designs to disrupt law and order in the country.
