A video circulating on social media has stirred controversy, showing Lal Masjid’s cleric, Maulana Abdul Aziz, expelling controversial religious figure Mufti Qavi at gunpoint.
Qavi often makes headlines and remains a subject of social media debate due to his controversial remarks. Most recently, he stirred another controversy by expressing his willingness to marry Indian actress Rakhi Sawant, after Pakistani actor Dodi Khan reportedly backed out of marrying her.
The same is the case with Lal Masjid cleric Maulana Abul Aziz, who was recently featured in a viral video, hurling threats at law enforcement personnel while brandishing an automatic gun.
The Qavi-Aziz fray occurred while Mufti Qavi was casually seated inside Lal Masjid’s Jamia Hafsa seminary, chatting with a few people and sipping a milkshake or juice, when Maulana Abdul Aziz suddenly stormed in with a gun.
The cleric, visibly angry, ordered Mufti Qavi to leave immediately, warning, “Leave now or I will shoot you.”
In the video, Mufti Qavi stands up after uttering “Allahu Akbar,” but Maulana Abdul Aziz repeats his threat and warns Qavi to never return.
Pointing towards Mufti Qavi, the cleric warned those sitting with him that “anyone who sits with this thug is no friend of mine.”
At one point, Maulana mocks Qavi’s attire, ridiculing the length of his trousers in a derogatory tone.
As Mufti Qavi begins to leave, Abdul Aziz gestures him out angrily, saying, “Get out of here. Be gone.”
The cleric further declared, “This thug should be publicly flogged wherever he is seen in the country. He boasts about multiple marriages — he should be ashamed.”
Qavi often make headlines and remains a centre of discussion on social media by giving controversial remarks. The recent example of the controversies he created emerged when he expressed his willingness to marry Indian actress Rakhi Sawant after Pakistani actor Dodi Khan backed out of marrying her.
As Mufti Qavi momentarily re-entered the room to retrieve his shoes, the cleric once again threatened him, saying, “If I see you here again, I will have you tied up and whipped.”
The video shows Mufti Qavi quietly enduring the verbal assault before leaving the mosque without protest. The only response he gave was uttering “Hazir, Hazir” (okay sir).
The incident has sparked a wave of reactions online, with users criticising both the behaviour of the Lal Masjid cleric and the use of threats within a place of worship.
One such user commented on the video: “All religious sects are equally deserving of our respect. However, it has once again become evident that many mosques in Pakistan no longer function as ‘houses of Allah’, but rather operate as franchises representing specific sects.”
Another social media user said, “”This is outright thuggery. Yet, regrettably, there are still those who try to defend it. Everyone has their own sect, their own platform, their own vested interests.”
