Upcoming budget to prioritise public-private partnerships: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired the meeting on preparation of federal budget for the fiscal year 2025-2026 (FY2025-26).

Industry players, businessmen and experts were also consulted on the budget in the meeting. The prime minister said that the government and the private sector have to work together for national development and prosperity.

“Giving relief to the common man is the top priority [for the government] in the upcoming budget,” the premier said, adding that all resources will be utilised to reduce the financial difficulties of the middle class.

PM Sharif also issued instructions to focus on export-based sustainable development while preparing the federal budget. He said that work should be done on projects that promote industries and increase production.

“Promoting youth with modern requirements by providing vocational training is also a priority,” he said. In the upcoming budget, projects under public-private partnership will get more attention from the government, he added.

The prime minister informed the meeting that government reforms in the power sector are yielding positive results. He also noted that the process of reducing the size of the federal government will continue in the next fiscal year as well.
